30 years of the European Convention on Human Rights in Hungary Freedom of Religion or Belief in the 70 years of the European Convention on Human Rights
Organized by the Faculty of Law of the Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church in Hungary Institute of Public Law
The European Convention on Human Rights celebrates a double anniversary in 2023 – it entered into force 70 years ago, on September 3rd, 1953, and proclaimed in Hungary 30 years ago, on April 7th, 1993. This occasion presents a perfect opportunity to examine the evolution of the Convention and its impact, both in specific member states and generally in Europe.
In this conference – in addition to the general history of the Convention – we aim to assess the impact of the Convention on the freedom of religion or belief. ORFECT (Observatory on Religious Freedom in the jurisprudence of the European Court of Human Rights) and ICLARS (International Consortium for Law and Religion Studies) will also be present at the conference as a collaborating partner.
Date: 19-20. October 2023.
Place of the conference: Károlyi-Csekonics Palace, Cigar Room and Ballroom (H-1088 Budapest, Múzeum u. 17)
